<b>AV:</b> Tell me about your history with Outcaste? </br>
<b>NC:</b> I signed to Outcaste records when I first moved to London (from Southampton), around 1997. I had been experimenting with fusing sounds for quite a few years and was delighted to learn that there was a whole 'Asian fusion' scene in London. I worked with Outcaste records till 2001 and then we parted company. It was a mutual decision as I wanted to move more into composition work for TV, theatre and dance and Outcaste records were also changing their musical direction.GauravNiraj Chag - A quick update Review of Skip-ij by: State of Bengal
http://www.asianvibrations.com/cgi-bin/readReviewSQL.cgi?albumNumber=123
This is probably what State Of Bengal wanted to do with his previous album however, he wasn't able to as he was sharing the title with someone else. With that in mind this is truly State of Bengal in his own element. What Sam has done ranges from Dub, to Hip Hop to DnB just as it ranges from the gritty and raw, to absolutely stellar and amazing. This albums is almost a no-brainer. Both of the MIDIval Pundtiz originals were unsurpassed, so of course this one has to be stellar. While that statement is mostly true there is one gripe to be had. Evoking thoughts of Talvin Singh and Nitin Sawhney, Niraj has stepped up to a new level. After hearing his stuff with Outcaste Records, Dum Dum Project and the multitude of other projects he has worked on, it came as no surprise that this album is stellar. What was surprising though, I heard the best album in 2006 months after it's official release. GauravReview of Along A Dusty Road by: Niraj ChagKrishna XL's - Mash It Up Video

Now this is true dub - bass militancy. There are practically no melodic instruments - wind, string or otherwise - only hard hitting drums, bass lines and beats; for the purist this might be a bit repetitive i.e. lacking a soul. But, bass is a string instrument and if you wish to move a moment, groove another one and shake in the third then here is your album.
